VCU Globe Wins the Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award
VCU Globe was recently presented with the prestigious 2015 Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award during International Education Week.
The award is granted by NAFSA: Association of International Educators to innovative university programs that make a significant contribution to campus internationalization. Marlene Johnson, executive director and CEO of NAFSA, welcomed the scholars, university administrators, students and others gathered for the awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on November 18.
Evan Ryan, assistant secretary of state for educational and cultural affairs for the U.S. Department of State congratulated the winning universities and lauded their commitment to creating international learning opportunities for college students. Martin Simon, son of the late Senator Paul Simon, also commended the universities for their work in the field of international education.
As an awardee, VCU Globe has been spotlighted in NAFSA’s publication Internationalizing the Campus: Profiles of Success at Colleges and Universities.
Other schools also receiving the NAFSA’s 2015 Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award were Rice University and Wake Forest University; those receiving the 2015 Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization were University of Delaware, Mount Holyoke College, North Central College, University of San Diego and University of Virginia.
